The daily care of leather shoes can make them last as long as new and more durable, which can be divided into three steps. Daily simple care
1) It is best to wear a pair of leather shoes every other day. Because sweat will generate moisture in the shoes after wearing them all day, you should put them in a cool and ventilated place to dry after going home to prevent bacteria from breeding.
2) After wearing leather shoes, use cloth or soft wool to wipe off the dust. At the gap position between the heel and the shoe body, you can wipe the dirt with a pointed brush, and then put in the shoe support to prevent the leather from being deformed. If there is no shoe support, you can put it in a newspaper instead.
3) If the shoes are wet, use a dry cloth to absorb the water from the shoes, and then put them in a cool and ventilated place to let them air-dry. Never expose the wet shoes in the sun, next to air conditioning or blow dry them with a fan, otherwise they will easily burst. When cleaning leather shoes, avoid washing with water and contacting with chemical solvents.
Special care of leather shoes In addition to daily care, some special cases, if properly handled, can make leather shoes more beautiful and durable.
- Decolorization of the lining: Generally, the leather inside is dyed, and it may be discolored when the foot temperature and foot sweat are added when wearing it. This is a normal phenomenon. Uneri can be coated with wax, so that there is a protective layer inside, which can reduce discoloration.
- The zipper is not smooth: coating the zipper with wax can improve the effect.
- Anti-nitrate: If there is a little anti-nitrate, you can make up the color with matching shoe paste or lightly wipe the anti-nitrate part with white oil to remove stains.
- oxidation of metal decorative buttons (gold, silver and copper buttons): silver shoe buttons: the black spots can be gently wiped off with the finest size of water mill sandpaper, and then gently wiped with transparent shoe paste.
- The white leather shoes are stained: the stains can be wiped off with a little transparent shoe paste.
Leather shoes maintenance
- Maintenance of smooth cowhide and matte cowhide: It is best to wear it above 10 degrees Celsius, so that the coating is not easy to crack. It is best to use white or colorless shoe milk for surface care, especially not oily brightener, otherwise the coating will fall off.
- Maintenance of serpentine cowhide: You can take care of it with shoe milk or water-based brightener, and never use oily brightener to prevent hardening.
- Maintenance of butter skin and discolored oil skin: attention should be paid to waterproof and antifouling when wearing, and it is recommended to use leather clothing or sofa cleaner to take care of it. 4) Maintenance of patterned sheepskin and checkered sheepskin: Do not use brightener when taking care of it, and use better colorless high-grade shoe milk. However, the amount of shoe milk should not be too much, and it should be evenly applied. After treatment, the skin color will be slightly deepened, but after the shoe milk volatilizes, it will basically recover. If the color is slightly darker, it is normal.
5)Maintenance of flat patent leather and wrinkled patent leather: The surface dust can be lightly wiped with a clean wet cloth (preferably without dripping water), or treated with leather cleaner or cleaning cream, but not with brightener or shoe milk. Brightener will cause false coating shedding, shoe milk will wrinkle the upper, and it is best to wear patent leather above 10 degrees Celsius.
6) Maintenance of water-dyed leather and waxed leather: Water-dyed leather and waxed leather are uncoated leather materials, which are easy to absorb moisture and stains. Pay attention to water stains or other stains when selling. Care with shoe milk when wearing, avoid getting wet in the rain, wipe off dust when not wearing, keep the brightness of the upper and prevent mildew. Using specially treated polished and waxed cowhide, the natural scratches and uneven color on the shoe body belong to the natural characteristics of the polished leather, not the defects and quality problems;
7) Maintenance of dark sheepskin: The care of dark sheepskin is relatively simple, so you can use better shoe milk and shoe paste.
8) Maintenance of suede shoes: There is an eraser for velvet shoes, as well as a special powder brush, copper wire brush and fine wire brush for velvet shoes, which are used to comb and clean the surface of leather shoes, and can brush the bald parts out of fluff, and a bottle of bottled spray (or powder) with the same color as the leather shoes, so that the cleaned leather shoes can be sprayed and decorated, and the effect is the same as that of new shoes. But it is not always so troublesome, and it is usually wiped with a clean wet cloth.
